Position Summary: A leading construction firm is seeking a skilled MEP Superintendent to oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing phases of commercial projects in Southeastern Virginia. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, safety commitment, and expertise managing complex MEP scopes in coordination with project teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture, ensuring all onsite personnel comply with safety, health, and environmental standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient jobsite in all managed areas
Coordinate all MEP phases of the project, including logistics and delivery of materials and equipment
Ensure strict adherence to project plans and specifications for all MEP disciplines
Develop and manage project schedules in collaboration with subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and the project management team to ensure timely completion
Monitor quality control continuously and document work in accordance with project requirements and industry best practices
Communicate and coordinate with the project team regarding ASIs, RFIs, and material submittals
Coordinate necessary inspections with local authorities
Maintain detailed daily logs and progress photos submitted to the project management system for review
Lead daily jobsite safety talks and weekly coordination meetings with trades
Assist with project closeout activities, including pre-punch lists and coordination with the project team
Support permit acquisition and approval of revisions alongside the project team
Assist in managing project budgets, costs, and scope implementation
Lead preparatory meetings with MEP subcontractors prior to commencement of work
Additional Responsibilities:
Collaborate with owners, architects, and engineers to manage MEP scopes related to design and procurement
Apply advanced knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems to project implementation
Manage standalone, complex projects from initiation to completion
Develop and implement site logistics plans specific to MEP operations
Identify and communicate construction progress conflicts for timely resolution
Ensure full compliance of subcontractors and vendors with their contractual scope of work
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Equivalent relevant experience will be considered
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP construction
Skills & Abilities:
Strong relationship-building and team collaboration skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Effective meeting and presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software
Ability to interpret and apply construction drawings and specifications
Proficiency with scheduling and project management tools
Knowledge of Lean construction principles
Understanding of various trades and scopes of work
Ability to assess document changes and their impact on projects
Proven track record of managing projects accurately and efficiently
