Executive Summary: HRUCKUS seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a role in San Antonio, Texas.

Position Description: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and mentor team members, guiding them in their tasks while overseeing budgeting, scheduling, and staff management. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is key in designing energy-efficient, sustainable HVAC and plumbing systems. The ideal candidate will take ownership of projects from inception to completion, driving both project success and the growth of our clients team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record for Mechanical and Plumbing disciplines.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the MEP design team throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Lead the design and development of HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Conduct and verify load calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Perform Construction Administration (CA) tasks, including reviewing submittals and shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and attending CA meetings.
  • Conduct site visits to assess field installations and perform field observations.
  • Manage assigned projects, coordinating and guiding the design team from inception to completion.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute detailed phases of assigned project work, ensuring adherence to quality standards across all projects.
  • Lead design and construction meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
  • Mentor junior team members and assign tasks to design staff as needed.
  • Provide periodic, objective feedback during employee check-ins in support of Annual Performance Reviews.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage contracts, fee proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams to build client relationships and support repeat business opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties, tasks, and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current Professional Engineering License.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to obtain Professional Licensure in Texas.
  • 10+ years of experience in MEP design, with expertise in Municipal/Aviation, Education, Healthcare, and Commercial Office sectors.
  • 7+ years of experience managing MEP design projects.
  • 3+ years of Project Management experience.
  • 3+ years of Supervisory experience leading an MEP design team.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License, a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and a successful background check.
  • The candidate selected for employment must submit to a criminal background check, education verification, and drug test.
