Qualified Rate : $34.5 Per hour

Job Summary

The Ore Dock Electrician is responsible for repairing and installing electrical systems, services, and equipment for the Ore Dock. Additionally, the incumbent maintains and provides safe conditions and operation of electrical equipment and fixtures as well as systems in the Ore Dock.

Major Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, clean, repair, test, and adjust electrical equipment, circuitry, and fixtures

Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions and perform required repairs

Complete electrical work order requests through work order system efficiently

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, and outlet boxes as well as electrical fixtures

Test circuits and equipment using voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, ohmmeter and other test equipment

Use hand tools, power tools, and appliances needed for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical circuits, related fixtures, and hardware

Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits

Insert, splice HV cables and connect wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power source

Ensure a safe working environment by following CNs safety policies and procedures

Working Conditions

Must be available to work assigned shift, including nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed

Travel by company vehicle to assigned work location and other destinations as needed

Must be able to work in a shop environment and outside in all weather conditions, occasionally in confined spaces at elevated heights

Must be able to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand, and walk

Must be able to use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motion

Requirements

Experience as a Journeyman Electrician with a Journeyman Electrician Certification or equivalent work experience and qualification

Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial wiring

Valid Driver's License

Must be able to perform maintenance services, diagnostic services on equipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required

Must be able to complete the installation, modification and repair of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls

Must be able to interpret electrical schematics, apply building plans, and perform installation from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, including modifying and repairing new and existing electrical systems

Skilled in using test equipment such as voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter

Knowledge of safety procedures related to working near high-voltage distribution systems

Knowledge of power distribution in equipment facilities

Knowledge of electrical systems for emergency power systems, including emergency generators and transfer switches

Knowledge of Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS)system's operations sequences

Knowledge of local and State Electrical Code in compliance with local electrical codes and prepared to produce on demand

*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset

Training

The incumbent receives on the-job training, which includes new employee safety training, hands-on training to learn how to operate various systems at the docks, and ongoing annual safety training.

This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement
