WGL - Supervisor, Corrosion Control
Are you ready to take on a leadership role that directly contributes to the safety and reliability of critical energy infrastructure? Washington Gas is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable professional to join our team as a Supervisor, Corrosion Control.
In this high-impact role, youll oversee the design, maintenance, and optimization of our Cathodic Protection (CP) systems, which are essential to protecting our transmission and distribution pipelines, gate stations, plants, and storage facilities.
What You'll Do:
Lead periodic surveys, diagnostics, and remediation of CP systems for existing and new infrastructure
Design, plan, and manage the installation and maintenance of galvanic and impressed current CP systems
Develop and implement corrosion control policies, procedures, and training programs
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of unionized Corrosion Technicians and Testers.
Investigate and manage low-pressure drips, water accumulations, and removal processes
Coordinate necessary permits and regulatory approvals
Ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local codes as well as corporate standards
Support and satisfy corrosion requirements for our Transmission and Distribution Integrity Management Programs
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments, external contractors, and Alliance partners
Analyze system performance using tools such as Smallworld, Work Manager, WebWork Manager, Pipeline Compliance System, and CP Data Management systems
Represent Washington Gas in regulatory hearings, expert panels, and negotiations with public commissions and third parties
High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education is a plus.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on corrosion control experience preferred; similar Operations experience will also be considered.
NACE Corrosion Technician or CP Technician certification strongly preferred
In-depth knowledge of CP systems, practices, and technologies
Familiarity with pipeline construction, maintenance, and emergency response procedures
Solid understanding of relevant industry codes, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks
The shift schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., based in our Forestville, MD Operations office.
