As a H&S Manger, you will join our Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta, or Guelph or Oakville, Ontario office as part of our H&S Team.

The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of Health and Safety Activities with responsibilities as follows:

  • Collaborate as a member of the Health and Safety Leadership Team, composed of members from Montrose Environmental Solutions, to execute our H&S plan and work towards our vision for H&S.
  • Manage select health and safety processes/programs (e.g., COR Audit Program, Emergency Response, Information Management Systems for H&S).
  • Mentor junior and intermediate H&S Specialists or Advisors. Support team members with their career development including timely and relevant feedback aligned with our values and competencies.
  • Participate in planning and budgeting sessions to identify estimates, milestones, and tasks.
  • Support the design and implementation of technology and innovative solutions in operations to support effective H&S risk management.
  • Identify trends and issues for H&S operations and engage leaders to proactively develop solutions.
  • Provide H&S support for operations (e.g., field site and office visits in support of H&S leadership).
  • Contribute to client relationship building, business development and support for client proposals and projects with respect to H&S.
  • Build and maintain relationships with all members of the H&S team and leaders to collaborate on solutions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for the development of communications, programs and training.
  • Facilitate interactive H&S training and orientation sessions.
  • Serve as an internal Certificate of Recognition H&S auditor and coordinate activities for external audits.
  • Facilitate organizational learning by leading incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Stay current in the practice of H&S and continue to develop as a professional.

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in a H&S role including field experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing programs
  • A creative, enthusiastic Canadian Registered Safety Professional keenly interested in advancing H&S inside and outside their company
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proven experience building collaborative partnerships and effective working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Ability to translate H&S principles and strategy into practical applications and action plans to achieve results
  • Excellent communication skills
  • H&S auditing experience
  • Industrial hygiene experience is considered an asset
  • Directly related experience in an environmental consulting organization is ideal
  • A valid and clean drivers license with no restrictions
  • Approximately 15-20% travel is expected

This is a permanent position with a salary range of $100,000 to $120,000 , starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
