Senior Electrical Design Estimator
Price Electric is searching for a strong leader with extensive electrical construction design-build estimating experience to utilize best practices and collaboratively communicate with national customers and internal departments.
Reporting to Vice President Business Development, the Senior Design Estimator will build relationships with new and existing Owners and General Contractors, be regarded as a solution provider, and be responsible for the overall design/budgets of project pursuits, including input on project selection, schedule, and scope of estimates.
We prefer that this position work at one of our locations in Iowa or Florida but may consider remote work for an exceptional candidate.
Key duties:
+ Understand target markets and strategic customers set by Executives and establish and achieve plans to meet objectives
+ Travel throughout the United States to visit with clients, engineers, and GCs and see prospective project sites
+ Facilitate and represent the electrical scopes in design meetings with clients, engineers, and GCs
+ Manage and prioritize proposal requests and schedule completion
+ During the estimating process, review bid and contract documents for requirements, details, timing, and scope
+ Participate in pre-bid meetings and bid strategy sessions
+ Use estimating software to prepare comprehensive material, equipment, and labor cost estimates for project bid proposals and change orders
+ Responsible for design and review efforts on design-build projects, including minimizing over design
+ Provide design oversite on types of materials, gear, and lighting selected and ensure detailed takeoffs are created
+ Analyze any feasibility considerations and prepare alternate solutions as needed
+ Review estimates for appropriateness, thoroughness, and accuracy prior to submittal
+ Monitor and communicate new estimate schedules or labor hours to Operations
+ Assist Project Managers with understanding the design estimates and reviewing the estimates with the project team following project award
+ Monitor estimated to actual costs, determine specific issues that affected an estimate, and put corrective actions in place
+ Analyze current practices to identify estimating tool and software enhancements and adapt or d evelop estimating policies and procedures
+ Model company core values and perform additional duties as assigned to achieve company objectives
Qualifications:
+ Four years of technical electrical training/education, such as Journeyman Electrician licensing, to gain strong knowledge of National Electrical Code, building products, construction details, calculations, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
+ Fifteen years of electrical construction estimating experience for advanced commercial design-build proficiency
+ Demonstrated strengths in leading, critical thinking, planning, active listening, communicating, problem solving, adapting, advancing teamwork, and achieving results
+ Willing to travel overnight on a regular basis, which includes ability to take commercial flights and possession of a valid driver license and acceptable insurability to drive for company business
