Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Consulting Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will lead large projects for routine engineering and design tasks of the civil/structural area.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform Structural Engineering duties in the design, analysis, and preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications for use on specific projects.
  • Perform and prepare structural designs and modifications of industrial structures and systems for one or multiple assigned projects.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and construction throughout all phases of planning, design, and construction.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed design sketches, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines to participate in development of plans, elevations, and basis of design documents to guide construction.
  • Apply basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in development of engineering design packages.
  • Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.
  • Understand and apply applicable building codes and industry specific standards for engineering projects. Understand and be able to determine applicability of local, state, and international building codes.
  • Specify building materials such as concrete and steel for use in specific projects, and review supplier submittals and test reports from third-party laboratories.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement standards, or operating procedures.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provide Material Take Offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and engineering to determine a projects economic feasibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with focus in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 20+ years of Civil/Structural Engineering experience.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, transparent, teamwork-based culture
  • Complex Problem Solving (STEM).
  • Critical Thinking.
  • Good Communication Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Judgment and Decision Making.
  • Occasional periods of travel to customer plants and construction sites.
  • May be required to work in an office, as well as in a power plant or industrial environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or PhD in Structural Engineering discipline
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License
  • Expertise in structural dynamic analysis of rotating & reciprocating machines
  • Proficient with Engineering and Computer Software (MS Office, AutoCAD, 2D &/or 3DCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, NavisWorks, STAAD, Risa 3D, SPMats, Enercalc, LPile, DynaN or Dyna 6
  • Civil/Structural lead experience for mid to large cap EPC projects in Energy & Chemicals, LNG or Power
