Master Mechanic Job Description The Diesel Mechanic is tasked with diagnosing and repairing mechanical and technical issues within the existing fleet. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work under varying weather conditions in a professional maintenance shop setting. Responsibilities Review and act on Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) and perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance tasks. Conduct inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, suspension, brake, engine, and pneumatic air systems on commercial vehicles and equipment. Perform safety inspections in compliance with DOT/CHP (B.I.T.) processes and other regulatory checks. Provide roadside emergency diagnosis and repair as directed by supervision. Complete documentation related to vehicle and equipment repairs, including parts usage and repair times. Attend and successfully complete all required safety and compliance training. Assist in clean-up during emergency situations such as load fires. Work early morning or late evening swing shifts to support the maintenance team. Engage in physical tasks such as bending, pushing, pulling, stretching, stooping, climbing, twisting, and lifting parts and materials up to 75 lbs. Utilize specialized shop equipment including A/C refrigerant machines, drill presses, heavy-duty jacks/lifts/hoists, pressure washers, and cutting tools/grinders. Essential Skills Minimum of 7 years' experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications. High School Diploma. Familiarity with DOT CHP repair processes and controls related to Vehicle Inspection Reports. Familiarity with CNG alternative fuel systems. Basic knowledge of vehicle air conditioning and refrigerant systems. Effective communication skills for mechanical issues and required repairs. Basic knowledge of and use of laptop/Cummins Insite, Allison Transmission Programs. Adherence to OSHA safety rules and regulations. Professional demeanor. Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information. Valid Class C Driver's License. Acceptable driving record. Ownership of personal tools. Physical capability to perform job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish. ASE/TIA Tire Certification. Welder Certification (TIG, MIG, ARC). Brakes Certification. CNG alternative fuel Certification. Commercial Class A/B Driver's License with air brake endorsement. Why Work Here?
