Primoris Energy Services is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Process Operator to support safe, efficient, and high-quality plant operations at our Nutrien Lime Treatment Plant project in Geismar, LA. In this role, you will monitor, operate, inspect, and troubleshoot production equipment to maintain steady-state operations and meet production goals. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while working in a highly collaborative, industrial environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensures the operating unit is pretreated in a cost-effective manner with maximum production and with-in governmental limits and process constraints while optimizing the production to meet manufacturing goals.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain process equipment; perform start-up/shutdown procedures.
- Monitor unit performance and assist in troubleshooting and optimization efforts.
- Must certify in the operating unit assigned.
- Maintain accurate shift documentation and communicate operational activities via electronic logs.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and complete safety permits and work requests.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collect and analyze process samples, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in safety meetings, emergency response drills, and required certifications, including the Operational Driven Reliability program and the Emergency Response team.
- Support training and development programs to maintain operator qualifications.
- Collaborate with other unit operators, maintenance personnel, vendors, supervision, contractors to ensure seamless operations.
- Assist in updating manuals for the following: SOPs, SOCLs, Training Plans, etc.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year technical degree preferred.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in a plant or industrial setting.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
- Ability to complete certification in Hazmat.
- Ability to read, understand and apply operating procedures.
- Strong computer skills and ability to follow detailed procedures.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and coordinate job responsibilities.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be committed to working in a highly safety-conscious environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, physical, and respiratory fit test.
- Must be physically able to work at heights, in all weather conditions, and around hazardous materials.
- Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.
- Must be able to work over water (dock).
- Must wear required PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
