General Mechanic Maintenance

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

The General Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks supporting mine site infrastructure, facilities, and company-owned housing. This position performs general building upkeep, utility system support, and seasonal site maintenance in accordance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. The role demands a hands-on, adaptable individual with strong basic mechanical skills and a commitment to safe work practices.

Job Responsibilities

1. Perform general facility maintenance, including painting, drywall repair, and light carpentry tasks.

2. Operate landscaping and maintenance equipment such as power tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and paint sprayers.

3. Inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems across mine property and housing areas.

4. Complete basic plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing faucets, unclogging drains, and servicing toilets.

5. Perform light electrical work including changing fixtures, outlets, switches, and basic troubleshooting (within non-licensed limits).

6. Support HVAC and ventilation systems through filter changes, thermostat checks, and visual inspections.

7. Maintain and repair doors, locks, windows, and hardware throughout buildings and facilities.

8. Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting walkways, and preparing facilities for extreme weather.

9. Inspect and support utility systems such as water heaters, pumps, and sump systems; escalate issues when needed.

10. Assist with setup and teardown of temporary infrastructure such as fencing, signs, or project equipment.

11. Participate in and support work planning systems (e.g. CMMS) by documenting tasks and reporting work status.

12. Lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs safely, following proper ergonomic practices.

13. Maintain clean and organized work areas and adhere to good housekeeping standards at all times.

14. Follow all MSHA, site-specific, and Round Mountain Gold Corporation safety and environmental requirements.

15. Participate in high-risk work activities (e.g., confined space, fall protection) as required, following Permit to Work procedures.

16. Support the Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) in all areas of responsibility.

Education and Experience

1. Experience in general maintenance, building systems, or mechanical support preferred.

2. Basic working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, and light electrical tasks.

3. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal work instructions.

4. Strong attention to detail, time management, and safe work habits.

5. Must be flexible and willing to support various types of work as needed.

6. Valid driver's license required.

7. Must meet "Authorized User" requirements for High Risk Activities (e.g., confined space, fall protection) per RMGC policy.

Reporting Relationships

• Works under direct supervision of the Process Maintenance Supervisor.
