Supervisor of Mechanical Installation and Maintenance

Under the supervision of the Administrator, with some level of independence and discretions, the duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Oversee inspection, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and renovation of FOMS (Fuel Oil Management) Systems and remedial systems Citywide.

  2. Prepare, close and review Maximo Work Orders and work orders for IT Departments for respective follow up repairs to systems.

  3. Provide specialized technical support for the FOMS systems and remedial systems Citywide.

  4. Request and receive materials, review invoices for payments.

  5. Attend meeting with related agencies, NYCHA Departments and vendors regarding, remedial actions, repairs, issues, and installations.

  6. Respond to oil spills in required time frames with all necessary equipment to begin/complete remediation. Contact/advise all required DEC and NYCHA representatives of situation and changes therein.

  7. Review time and attendance, identify staff training needs, conduct staff meetings.

  8. Daily direction and supervision of all staff which includes assisting the Unit Administrator with any staff related issues/ field management.

  9. Initiate, monitor and expedite material orders and service request via Oracle and Movaris systems.

Minimum Qualifications

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and one of the following:

  1. Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of mechanical equipment in the areas of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, elevators, and/or plumbing in buildings, facilities, structures and grounds, at least two years of which must have been experience in a building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories each, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet; or

  2. A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the four years of experience required in "1" above. College education leading to a baccalaureate degree in engineering or engineering technology may be substituted for the required experience in "1" above on the basis of 5 semester credits for two months of experience. However, to qualify candidates must have at least two years of the required experience as described in "1" above in a building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories each, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet.

Preferred Skills

  1. Proficiency in Maximo, Oracle, Microsoft Excel and Word preferred. 2. NYS Driver License. 3. Extensive knowledge of Heating systems and related equipment.
