The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Manages and directs the personnel, equipment and activities of the county survey section.
Performs surveys, layouts, and other related activities as needed for the department and coordinated through the Assistant County Engineer.
Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
Research existing surveys, maps, deeds, physical evidence and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
Keeps accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
Communicates with immediate supervisor, division heads, and other interested parties in order to exchange information concerning survey projects.
Keeps Assistant County Engineer, County Engineer, and others informed of project progress and any potential problems.
Prepares plats, maps, reports or other forms of media to effectively relay or present necessary information.
Reviews and recommends the purchase of equipment, materials, training/classes, and computer software/hardware products necessary to accurately and efficiently perform job duties.
Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing records and reports, attending meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc. as required to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
All other duties as assigned.
