We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and reliable mechanical solutions for next generation of computer systems for Dojo - Tesla's supercomputer. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing efficient and high-performance solutions to meet the demands of our innovative hardware.

  • Modeling and design of mechanical components and assemblies including plastic, sheet metal, casting, coldplates, electrical distribution, and other components
  • Conduct mechanical design analysis including thermal, structural, tolerance, and design for assembly
  • Generate detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation of mechanical designs using CATIA
  • Collaborate with other mechanical, electrical, systems, firmware, manufacturing and test engineers to take designs form prototype through production and deployment
  • Participate in prototype and NPI builds, component fabrication, testing and validation efforts. Provide hands-on support during new system bring-up
  • Perform feasibility studies to evaluate design concepts and propose new product architectures and product improvements
  • Support development of engineering and reliability test plans, test data analysis, and troubleshooting of design issues
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source parts, tool new designs, and bring up manufacturing lines
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred) for 3D modeling and drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools and simulation software for mechanical analysis, ANSYS preferred
  • Familiarity with PCBAs and electronics packaging
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform first principles analysis to ensure a successful design
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
