Fred Smith Company is currently searching for an experienced Traffic Control (TC) Foreman. A successful candidate will have 5-8 years' experience as a Traffic Control Supervisor.

Job Duties & Requirements:

  • Direct all TC operations, programs, and policies, allowing builders to focus on completing projects in a safe and secure environment.
  • Enforce compliance with local, state and federal traffic ordinances, and demonstrate superior service, integrity and efficiency.
  • Develop a working relationship with site foreman, supervisors, and superintendents to dispatch and execute TC operations on Heavy Civil Construction and Roadway projects.
  • Demonstrate problem solving, efficiency and reasoning to effectively reroute traffic patterns away from ongoing projects as needed.
  • Schedule and perform lane closures according to plans/specifications and construction drawings.
  • Collaborate with State and Local government officials as needed to advise and cooperate.
  • Train and evaluate TC Specialists to ensure compliance with up-to-date Department of Transportation standards, regulations and certifications.
  • Purchase, supply and equip TC Specialists with necessary and required equipment.
  • Generate, analyze, and present reports to key stakeholders, customers, and other concerned parties, representing Fred Smith Company as a safe and professional organization.
  • Attend company leadership meetings as required.
  • Cooperate with Human Resources Department and Risk Management Department being knowledgeable as to aspects of EEO and Safety responsibilities, comply with these requirements and insist upon compliance among all subordinates.
  • Deliver daily Job Safety Analysis's (JSA) to TC specialists to ensure safety, compliance and jobsite awareness.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience managing Traffic Control Operations on Heavy Civil Construction projects.
  • Must possess current NCDOT Workzone Supervisor/Installer Certification & OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course. Certified Flagger Trainer Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess proficiency in computer and IOS programs, to include Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a positive driving history.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
