CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a qualified Project Designer with 5+ years of experience for our Allentown, PA office. This role will be responsible for collaborating with other surveyors, engineers, or designers on projects for state, regional, local, and private clients performing a variety of tasks in the preparation of plans and/or tasks on multiple projects and checking the work of others.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Perform engineering design tasks under Professional Engineering supervision Typical tasks include, but are not limited to, the preparation of erosion & sediment control, stormwater, and drainage plans, performing related engineering design and calculations, completing hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and quantity take offs. Preparation of state and local permit applications and materials.

+ Promote internal and external client service throughout the organization.

+ Perform engineering design functions with minimal supervision, guidance, including engineering computations, report writing, etc.

+ Participate in visits to project sites, project status meetings, client, and public meetings.

+ Review project submittals, RFIs and payment applications

+ Keep up to date with new design technology, permitting requirements, and design standards.

+ Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, technical specifications, and cost estimates.

+ Provide support to other offices and technical practices as needed.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

+ Attend training as provided by Company.

+ Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.

+ Limited travel, as required, as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

+ A.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrate relevant experience.

+ Ability to use and/or learn relevant computer software as needed, including but not limited to Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, Hydraflow and VT-PSUHM. Knowledge of Bentley MicroStation, Open Road Design, and Bentley OpenFlows is also beneficial.

+ 5+ years of related experience. Preferred 8+ years EIT Certification Preferred.

+ Ability to perform engineering design tasks independently.

+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.

+ Ability to research and become familiar with state and local design manuals, procedures, specifications, standards, computer programs, codes, engineering software, and plan presentation format.

+ Written communication skills to prepare technical reports, letters, meeting minutes, transmittals, etc.

+ Ability to communicate effectively with ownership, management, co-workers, customers, vendors, contractors, partners, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.

+ Ability to work as part of a design team, coordinate with technical practices and allied professions, and perform design tasks with supervision of senior engineering staff.
