Job Summary:

The Flight Avionics Team provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Guidance Electronics solutions for products across the Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) portfolio. Our team develops missile Guidance Electronics Hardware. Our core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, analysis, requirements, integration, and test. Our core electrical engineering technologies include RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Digital, and Power. We partner with several Electrical Product Team departments that provide the detailed design of our electrical products as well as missile level systems teams.

The Flight Avionics Team is searching for a RF Subsystems Electrical Engineer II . The candidate will be responsible for contributing to the analysis, design, and implementation of RF subsystems and sensors within missile products. The selected candidate will be expected to learn from, and contribute to, RF subsystem/sensor support as part of an interdisciplinary team.

This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

Working as an apprentice to a senior engineering mentor, you will:

  • Design, test, and integrate RF sensors and subsystems across frequencies from MHz through millimeter-wave.
  • Support the decomposition of system-level requirements into detailed RF component requirements.
  • Measure RF components/sensors/subsystems, including performance in chamber and range environments.
  • Perform modeling and analysis of link budgets, RF cascades, electromagnetic emissions (EME), antenna patterns, phase noise, receiver sensitivity, transmitter power, spurious signals, modulation, isolation, and ADC characteristics.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience with Design, integration and/or test of RF components, RF circuit cards, RF subsystems or RF sensors.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Knowledge of RF component technologies, including circuit card assemblies (CCAs), waveguides, planar/printed antennas, RF modules, and/or monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs).
  • Experience performing Link Budget analyses.
  • Experience in concepts such as phase noise, mixer conversion spurs, automatic gain control (AGC), sensitivity, intermodulation distortion (IMD), instantaneous bandwidth, adjacent channel interference, and ADC measurements/calculations (Nyquist and SFDR).
  • Experience evaluating RF hardware for performance under environments (thermal, structural, EMI)
  • Familiarity with equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Arbitrary Waveform Generators (ARB Generators).
  • Ability and desire to learn quickly through collaboration with multi-discipline subject matter experts
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
