About the Role
As a Pre-Construction Manager at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in coordinating all post-design, pre-groundbreaking activities for Z Modular projects. This position requires strong subcontractor management, bidding strategy expertise, and cross-functional coordination, and offers the opportunity to directly impact cost efficiency, project readiness, and overall execution success.
You will collaborate with subcontractors, internal teams, design partners, and project stakeholders to ensure project scope, budgets, and logistics are aligned before construction begins. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX , with time split between the office and active construction sites.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, enjoys problem-solving, and brings structure and clarity to complex pre-construction workflows.
What Youll Do
Develops and maintains a catalog of qualified subcontractors that meet Z Modular trade standards
Pre-qualifies subcontractors to streamline pricing access for project managers
Manages the bidding process using Building Connected and Procore, ensuring bid alignment with scope and budget
Leads pre-construction meetings and site walk-throughs with trades and construction teams to clarify scope and logistics
Coordinates with design and procurement teams to finalize materials, quantities, and long-lead purchases
Who You Are
5+ years of experience in commercial construction project management, preferably with modular or prefabricated projects
Bachelors degree in Building Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
Proficient in Procore, Building Connected, Autodesk, and Microsoft Office
Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, and subcontractor management
Strong communicator with excellent time management and cross-functional collaboration skills
Knowledgeable of permitting processes, vendor qualifications, and safety standards
Eligible to work in the United States and able to travel to construction sites across multiple states

Below is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.
