Description of Job Job Summary:

This position exists to perform Journeyman level painting, taping, and protective coatings on equipment, sealing masonry, varnishing, refinishing wood, and painting both interior and exterior surfaces. Coordinate task list/schedule of repairs or enhancements needed in each space to maintain quality standards for each space.

Essential Job Functions: General Maintenance:
  • Reviews and prioritize work orders daily.
  • Performs building maintenance painting through visual, physical inspections and repairs of campus building walls and surfaces as assigned by the Paint Shop Supervisor.
  • Provide Journeyman level repairs and painting by applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, lacquer, or other finishes to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trims, and other fixtures of building structures, equipment or furniture.
  • Remove old finish, prepares surfaces, makes necessary repairs, mixes or matches and applies finish-using brush, roller, airless, HVLP sprayer, cup gun, spray pot or other applicable method on existing surfaces, remodeled spaces and new construction.
Planning, Scheduling and Customer Service:
  • Plan, meet and coordinate facility maintenance activities with the supervisor of the Paint shop.
  • Interact daily to ensure operations and maintenance functions are well planned and coordinated to minimize inconvenience to the customers.
Procurement and Scheduling Coordinator for Campus Maintenance:
  • Prepares Purchase Request for paint, materials and services.
Emergency Response, Special Events and Other Duties:
  • Performs duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Directors, Safety and Security to include but not limited to snow removal, emergency clean ups, assist with Paint Shop duties as needed and after hours emergency call back requests.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of journeyman-level painting tasks such as surface preparation, finish application, and use of various painting tools (e.g., brush, roller, HVLP sprayer).
  • Valid unencumbered Colorado drivers license at the time the application is submitted.
OR
  • A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must maintain a valid and unencumbered Colorado driver license.
  • Please note that if offered employment, candidates will be required to furnish a copy of the motor vehicle report (MVR) as part of the background check process.
