Field Engineer

Plan and execute, with minimal professional guidance, complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, test, inspection or repair of Company products and equipment. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments typically on remotely operated maintenance and testing equipment. Recommend measures to improve operations and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities include; but not limited to:

Perform complex field service operations that typically present unusual problems requiring strong technical skills. Construct complex prototype models or simulated systems, as requested.

Perform semi-technical work on development and production projects, integrating requirements with own understanding of the complete project.

Perform basic fabrication, assembly, erection, maintenance, repair and operation of products, systems, laboratory calibration or test equipment.

Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and products, and record data. May perform basic analyses to check reasonableness, prepare test reports and maintain records.

Compile and correlate a variety of data, reduce data for analysis, prepare schematics, diagrams, or parts lists and make recommendations regarding test procedures and hardware.

May provide leadership in the assembly and operation of laboratory and field service equipment. Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and procedures. Record, compile and reduce data for analysis and assist in related assessment and preparation of reports.

Troubleshoot test equipment and apply own knowledge and experience towards the solution of any problems, such as types of repairs or modifications required. Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction. Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs, and assist in determining resource requirements.

Lead the performance of assigned field services projects such as non-destructive examinations and analysis. May be responsible for direction, analysis and reports involving complex test projects.

May work nonstandard schedules and/or at off-site locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions. May guide and assist less experienced technicians.

Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts. Guide less experienced technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment. Often work non standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

Skills and Requirements:

Electrical experience with soldiering

Electrical assembly and mechanical assembly

Good interpersonal skills

Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings.

Thorough understanding of Company products and equipment

Engineering concepts and practices

Ability to select most effective approaches and adapting standard practices and procedures to resolve complex semi-technical problems.

Strong communications skills and ability to lead less experienced staff.

Decisions and actions are based on individual knowledge and experience and may affect quality, delay schedules and result in rework as assignments are not subject to close scrutiny. Highly complex problems are referred to engineers or supervisor.

Must have Associate's Degree in engineering or related field plus 1 - 5 years of experience or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
