Drafter
Job Description

As a Drafter, you will focus on ensuring safety in all aspects of your work and contribute to company meetings. You will conduct and document tests for new products, existing products, and purchased components, ensuring functionality, performance, and safety testing. You will also analyze service life to achieve desired levels of product reliability and user acceptance, as directed by design engineering. Your role will include reading, writing, and interpreting tests performed, summarizing results and recommendations for improvement to Engineering or vendors. Additionally, you will be responsible for weighing all products and major components and recording the data in the computer system. You will coordinate customer testing when applicable, design assembly fixtures and special test tooling, assist the Quality Department, and maintain the departments prototype inventory and tractors. Keeping the prototype storage area, shop bay, and testing area clean and orderly is also part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will use and maintain the departments instrumentation, including data acquisition equipment, and operate the departments truck and trailer as required to support the test program.

  • Weigh all products and major components and record the data in the computer system.
  • Coordinate customer testing when applicable.
  • Design assembly fixtures and special test tooling as needed.
  • Assist the Quality Department when needed.
  • Maintain departments prototype inventory and tractors.
  • Maintain prototype storage area, shop bay, and testing area in a clean, orderly, and professional manner.
  • Use and maintain the departments instrumentation, including the data acquisition equipment.
  • Operate the departments truck and trailer as required to support the test program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Desire and capability to work with machinery in a 'hands-on' environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in fabrication, welding, and tractor mechanics.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Solidworks experience in sheet metal design.
  • 2-year degree focused in Drafting/design.
  • 1+ years of Solidworks experience working with the sheet metal function.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hydraulic and electrical systems knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD programs preferred.
  • Solidworks certification.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
Work Environment

The plant is not climate controlled, operating in an older building since 1965. Offices are climate controlled, but you will spend 90% of your time in the plant. Some travel may be required, and occasional overtime may be needed to complete projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.
