Painter Helper Job Description We are seeking multiple helpers to join our dynamic team. This role entails assisting skilled painters in preparing wood and metal surfaces for painting, ensuring they are free from contaminants such as dirt, grease, rust, and scale. You will be involved in masking and taping areas not requiring paint, and helping painters in the application of paint on interior and exterior surfaces of ships and shipyard buildings. This position offers an opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks, supporting painter, blaster, carpentry, and other shipyard services. Responsibilities Assist skilled painters with surface preparation and painting tasks. Clean and prepare surfaces by removing dirt, grease, rust, and other contaminants. Mask and tape areas not requiring paint. Mix paint materials according to Product Data Sheets. Inspect prepped and painted areas and perform touch-up work as needed. Set up and operate spray equipment, including pneumatic, airless pumps, HVLP spray guns, and conventional spray pots. Dismantle scaffolding and other wooden structures. Perform general shipyard cleanup and tank cleaning. Operate high-reach equipment and power tools such as saws, drills, and chainsaws. Move furniture and other equipment as required. Assist with various shipyard tasks including fire equipment installation and material loading. Essential Skills Basic knowledge of painting applications and paint preparation. Experience in using hand tools and performing general labor tasks. Previous shipyard experience is preferred. Must be flexible to work all shifts. Ability to provide own tools for the job.
