Position Title: Electrical Engineer

Work Location: Site RWMC & NRF

Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday 4x10s

Salary Grade: 15 Salary Range Min $75,815 Mid $96,870 Max $117,695

Salary Grade: 18 Salary Range Min $108,905 Mid $139,595 Max $170,280

Position Purpose:

Apply advanced science, technology and engineering concepts to design, analyze, and model a structure, system or component (SSC) through preparation of releasable drawings, specifications and other design documents. Develops solutions to complex problems or creates innovations through adaptation of emerging technological developments or processes. Be aware of and apply the latest technologies and engineering tools to the design effort. Plans and conducts efforts on complex assignments or projects. Reviews progress and evaluates results. May lead or direct major complex projects. Act in liaison capacity with other departments, divisions and branches. Evaluates progress and results and recommends major changes in procedures. Integrate safety into all aspects of engineering designs. Be totally committed to safety in the workplace for yourself and for others. Support the Fluor Idaho One Safety program goals for maintaining a safety conscious work environment including active participation in safety programs and activities. Maintain a working knowledge of the Federal and State Orders and Regulations, National Consensus Codes and Standards, and quality assurance. environment, safety and security requirements. Subject matter expert in area of specialty. Provide technical consulting and peer review within area of expertise to other engineers. Applies continuous improvement process to promote positive changes in practices, programs, and procedures.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

This is a multi-level posting and the successful candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills. At the Idaho Environmental Coalition, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering discipline plus:

Salary Grade 15: 2 years relevant experience.

Salary Grade 18: 12 years relevant experience.

Has excellent communication and negotiation skills; can effectively write reports and make presentations and productively interface with customer.

Participates in continuing education, maintains and enhances technical capability and continues to acquire competence in engineering disciplines.

Experience and proficiency with power distribution design and analysis programs such as SKM Power tools.

Experience and proficiency with all aspects of power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, and cathodic protection.

Effective Monday, May 12, 2025, REAL ID -compliant driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) is required to gain access to all IEC and INL facilities (such as in-person interviews, medical & pre-employment drug screening, and for new employee orientation). License(s) or Certification(s) Required:

State of Idaho Professional Engineer (PE) License in the field of Electrical Engineering is preferred for this position or ability to obtain license in 6 months. Required by Idaho Code Title 54 Chapter 12 and company procedure MCP 3534 to seal all the engineering design disclosure documents that are prepared for external release.

Position Responsibilities:

Review Customer Requirements and Develop Design Concepts:

  • Communicate with customer to understand customers requirements and identify customers design goals
  • Identify interfaces to other system components
  • Identify applicable codes, standards, regulations and procedures
  • Concur with technical and functional requirements (TFRs, FCFs, FDCs, SDDs)
  • Evaluate hazards and safety requirements
  • Determine environmental and pollution prevention checklist requirements
  • Determine other ESH&QA (e.g. ALARA, Life Safety, Fire Protection, & IH) requirements
  • Understand and research existing systems
  • Research vendor literature
  • Identify whether and what type of design activities are needed
  • Evaluate new technologies and equipment
  • Identify research, studies and testing required to proceed with the design
  • Prepare design options and concepts

Complete and Document Detailed Design:

  • Incorporate safety into all aspects of the design
  • Develop and/or evaluate design alternatives
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines
  • Confirm compliance to applicable codes and standards
  • Perform and document design analyses
  • Develop and use mathematical models
  • Propose and develop prototype systems, if needed
  • Confirm design complies with requirements
  • Prepare and issue construction/fabrication drawings
  • Develop and issue construction specifications
  • Develop materials and parts lists
  • Develop engineering design files (EDFs)
  • Develop system design descriptions (SDDs)
  • Develop acceptance criteria

Verify Design:

  • Participate in the design review process
  • Utilize alternate mathematical models
  • Support troubleshooting on final installation
  • Support acceptance testing at project startup

Construction and Project Closeout:

  • Support procurement of materials, equipment and services
  • Support development of work orders
  • Support construction, installation and start-up efforts
  • Prepare field change documentation when required
  • Support operational and maintenance procedure development and training
  • Update (as-build) documentation as directed by the Design Authority
  • Support readiness reviews

Leadership and Mentoring

  • When assigned, oversee project design tasks
  • Request multidiscipline resources to accomplish design tasks
  • Mentor less experienced engineers using a broad depth of engineering experience

Develop Design Work Package:

  • Negotiate engineering design schedules
  • Determine engineering tools to use in areas of expertise

Training and Safety Qualifications

  • Maintain training qualifications current
  • Review and support all company policies
  • Participate in employee and company safety activities and programs
  • Support and promote a safety conscious work environment
