JOB SUMMARY

The Property Acquisition Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing properties that align with the City of Conroe's infrastructure goals. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, real estate market knowledge, and the ability to build relationships with property owners, real estate agents, and other stakeholders. This role involves organizing long-term records, conducting research, and overseeing the proper storage, retrieval, and disposal of documents in accordance with municipal, state, and federal regulations. The position also supports permitting processes by ensuring accurate recordkeeping and assisting in research for compliance and historical documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Associate of science degree or business preferred. Minimum of seven years related state or local government experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements:

  • Stay current on record retention laws and requirements.
  • Must have the ability to read basic engineering plans.
  • Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate acquisitions, sales, or property development.
  • Proficiency in document management systems, databases, and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and present findings effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to make effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is light and requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, and visual acuity.
