Electrician Specialist Leader
Section 22 - Materials Testing
About this Position:
This position performs general maintenance of the 7 buildings totaling 65,000 square-feet of the Materials Lab campus. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, addressing plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning/heating issues. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to coordinate with vendors and contractors for tasks that cannot be performed with in-house capabilities.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with all applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the electrical trade.

Job Duties and Other Information
20% Performs general maintenance of the 7 buildings totaling 65,000 square-feet of the Materials Lab campus. Maintains and
ensures access doors and other access points are secure and working properly, including magnetic and mechanical locking
device adjustments as necessary. Checks buildings for safety and recommends necessary changes. Initiates repairs from
work request forms submitted by Materials Lab personnel. Completes procurement forms in accordance with Section 22
policy. Keeps records of daily work activities.
20% Installs motors, starters, coils, switches, and enclosures for single and three-phase systems. Uses standard electrical tools such as volt and amp meters to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems. Assists with other miscellaneous repair work such as
wire tracing.
20% Maintains and repairs pumps, cylinders, hoses, filters, sensors, and control valves for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
20% Provides functional supervision over contractors and assists in directing contractors' work in the performance of major
repairs of buildings -interior, exterior, fixtures, and air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related
fields such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical. Inspects, reviews, and approves work accomplished by the use of
maintenance contracts. Contacts outside contractors as appropriate to schedule maintenance and repair work.
10% Assists in the responsibilities of the DOTO Testing Equipment Unit's equipment management program by repairing,
maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment issues in all the labs on the Materials Lab campus, as well as, in the
District Labs. Performs preventive maintenance operations as required on a periodic basis. Prepares and maintains
records on equipment maintenance.
5% Trains and may functionally supervise other technicians.
5% May be required to perform additional duties as determined by the supervisor including, but not limited to,
emergency/disaster support services.
