Job Description

This role is a principal architect responsible for creating customized digital 3D parametric modeling library. We are seeking a skilled CAD modeler to develop procedures, processes, and best practices for the engineering team in the areas of master modeling and engineering BOMs. The ideal candidate will have experience developing custom solutions built on Autodesk inventor and additional integration applications. Primarily focusing on creating and adapting rule based models to integrate with product configuration systems and manufacturing processes This includes overseeing the coordination of system readiness, creating and maintaining modeling standards, and collaborating with cross functional teams. Additional responsibilities to include assisting Product Development, Custom solution, and Customer Service teams with designs and research.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, facilitate, and manage the development of a parametric library that will be scalable across multiple cabinet platforms, configuration systems, and manufacturing sites

  • Deliver customized and configured solutions on top of Autodesk core products in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) or Manufacturing (MFG) domain

  • Create adaptive 3D parametric models based on product specifications and design requirements

  • Apply parametric constraints, equations, and relations to create scalable designs

  • Modify and optimize existing 3D models for performance, accuracy, and manufacturing efficiency

  • Maintain an organized library of parametric cabinet models and standards

  • Collaborate with engineering, configuration, and designers to ensure model functionality

  • Generate technical drawings for customer and manufacturing use cases

  • Support solution development and deployment activities including delivery, acceptance testing, and user-support

  • Create assembly animations and exploded views to demonstrate construction

  • Provide technical system management, support, and enhancement of PLM/PDM, CAD and engineering business applications

  • Train, mentor, and develop a 3D modeling team by fostering skill growth, implementing efficient workflows, and encouraging creativity and collaboration

  • Drive the use of CAD/PLM best practices and standards across the engineering team

  • Perform the role of a subject matter expert for the Autodesk product/cloud platform APIs

  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in parametric modeling techniques/system integrations

  • Support the evaluation of product-related production problems and provide technical support

  • Champion quality initiatives, troubleshooting, and consistently working toward error reduction.

  • Help to establish organizational culture of continuous improvement, utilizing daily management, standard work, and A3 Thinking

  • Ability to travel as required. Estimated travel currently anticipated for this position is ~15%

  • Other duties as may be assigned at management's discretion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a technical field is highly preferred

  • 5+ years of 3D parametric modeling experience; utilizing geometric constraints and feature-based design with Autodesk Inventor

  • Knowledge of scripting/programming for automation in modeling (VBA)

  • Knowledge of Autodesk Platform Services and API

  • System level knowledge of modeling and use with PLM/PDM

  • Prior experience in woodworking, cabinetry, or manufacturing industries is a plus

  • Familiarity with the animations and visualizations tools with models

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite

  • Exceptional project management and problem-solving skills

  • Self-starting, self-directing with limited supervision and ability to foster teamwork

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
