ROLE OVERVIEW:

Develop a strategic plan for the Knife River's Central Region Training and Development Team in conjunction with the Knife River management team. Execute this vision through internal and external partnerships. Work with the KRC Learning Services Team to develop and deliver the desired training. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Training & Development Team. Responsible for meeting objectives set in conjunction with regional leadership.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education & Experience
  • College or university degree and/or 10+ years of experience in adult training, development, or a related field.
  • Experience in the construction materials industry is preferred.
  1. Collaboration & Communication
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with industry and academic partners.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, including internal and external members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to both large and small groups.
  • Skilled in promoting training and development services across various channels.
  1. Training & Compliance Knowledge
  • General knowledge of adult education principles and curriculum design.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
  1. Technical Skills
  • Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable working independently in a self-managed environment.
  1. Valid driver's license.

  2. Willingness to travel up to 50%.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in delivering and promoting Knife River Values including 6 C's, Core Values, 3 T's, and Leading with Integrity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate strategic planning discussions with KRC leadership and partner organizations regarding the direction of the region's training and development.
  • Develop partnerships with industry and academic organizations that achieve goals defined in the strategic plan.
  • Promote CR trainees to leaders and provide ongoing support to trainees and their supervisors.
  • Manage internal and external resources to efficiently operate the Training and Development Team
  • Manage leadership development programs in the Central Region, assess and report on progress of high value development candidates.
  • Create and deploy Knife River trainings and development programs.
  • Work with internal and external trainers as they develop and deliver curriculum.
  • Collaborate with Learning Services, the Training and Development Center, and other regions to ensure success of other KRC training initiatives.
  • Manage deliverable outcomes and work with HR to report on progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to travel.
