AWS Infrastructure Services, the backbone of Amazon's cloud computing platform, is seeking an Infrastructure Delivery Installation Technician to join our growing team. As the architects and maintainers of AWS's global infrastructure, we manage data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure uninterrupted service for our customers. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex, large-scale challenges in a dynamic environment.

As an Infrastructure Delivery Installation Technician, you'll work with minimal supervision to enhance network stability and sustainability, while developing innovative automation and scaling solutions. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers across AWS. Your efforts will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security while optimizing capacity and cost-effectiveness for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Install and patch fiber and copper cabling between equipment

Follow established cabling installation procedures

Maintain safety and security standards during all work activities

Operate material handling tools and equipment safely

Operational Requirements

Travel between data center sites (must have reliable transportation)

Work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, to meet deadlines

Collaborate across departments to support organizational goals

Physical Requirements:

All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:

Lifting/Moving:

o Individual lift/pull up to 40 pounds

o Participate in team lifts for items over 40 pounds

Mobility Requirements:

o Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours daily)

o Bend, stretch, and reach regularly

o Climb ladders and stairs safely

o Navigate gangways without restriction

Environmental Conditions:

o Work in confined spaces

o Work at heights

Basic Qualifications

- High school or equivalent diploma

- High school diploma or equivalent

- 1+ year experience in any of:

- o Infrastructure cabling

- o Network deployment

- o Data center operations

- o Technical project management

- o Similar technical/vocational roles

Preferred Qualifications

- Technical Certifications & Knowledge

- Industry certifications such as:

- o CompTIA

- o Computer Science

- o BICSI

- Technician

- Installer

- Technical Experience

- Network infrastructure expertise:

- o Cabling systems and standards

- o Optical fiber and copper applications

- o Testing equipment operation

- o Infrastructure best practices

- o Cabling methodology

- Project Experience

- Demonstrated ability to:

- o Handle complex project scopes

- o Navigate ambiguous requirements and communications with partners and trades

- o Point of Contact for medium to large-scale installations
