This position provides a full range of administrative and technical support involving knowledge of Development Services applications, processing of applications, filing and office organization, customer service, and graphic presentation of zoning and planning data. Under general supervision, the Plans Examiner is responsible for reviewing building permit applications for zoning code compliance and responds to inquiries by contractors and citizens regarding code compliance and building permits. Responsibilities include Zoning and Site Plan Review for permits; analyzes and evaluates building plans, confers with, and interprets code provisions and application procedures to architects, engineers, contractors, and members of the public. Investigates complaints of building code or zoning violations. Assists in the management of the zoning, planning, building, permitting, and Customer service work that includes answering general questions regarding zoning and building ordinance requirements. Assists the Building Official and Assistant City Manager in review of major construction projects, including coordination of the Development Review Committee.
