Sheet Metal Mechanic Roanoke, VA and surrounding areas Job Description The Metal Mechanic will be responsible for installing, altering, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment ducts and hoods for HVAC systems. This role involves utilizing blueprints, drawings, and work orders to plan and coordinate tasks, as well as determining the amount of material required for efficient work performance. Responsibilities Install, alter, and repair sheet metal products and equipment ducts and hoods for HVAC systems using blueprints, drawings, and work orders. Plan and coordinate tasks, including determining the amount of material needed for work performance. Prepare and operate equipment such as power saws, drill presses, hand and power shears, pan and box brakes, lock formers, cleat benders, and rollers to cut, punch, thread, and form sheet metal. Coordinate and assemble ducts, hoods, and other sheet metal products, including soldering and bolting connections, applying insulation as required, and inspecting assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications. Conduct operational checks of ducts and other sheet metal installations to ensure quality and determine necessary corrective actions. Provide direction and technical guidance to less experienced workers.
