CTL Engineering is hiring a Sr. Geotechnical Engineer | Project Manager | Regional Manager!
CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) is an award winning, full service consulting engineering firm with (15) locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA with a rich history over our (98) years in business. We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.
We are looking for a PE-credentialed Sr. Geotechnical Engineer who will play a key member, and Team/Regional Lead, of the Geotech Team in performing geotechnical explorations and investigations for our clients. You'll leverage your extensive expertise and creative problem-solving skills while collaborating closely with institutions/municipal agencies, Architects, Engineers, Developers, and project teams to deliver customized geotechnical studies, reports, and solutions. From initial concept development to final execution, this role will guide projects through every stage of the land profile evaluation process, ensuring seamless integration and optimal results.
If you are passionate about staying ahead of industry trends, enjoy problem-solving, and have a creative approach to the geotechnical field, we want to hear from you!
This is more than a job posting... it's an invitation to bring your expertise to a company where innovation and passion converge seamlessly.
Highlights:
Interesting projects ranging from infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and "one-off"/unique engineering.
Typically, the projects are primarily focused on DOT-related (roadway) and airport/runway.
Projects are typically located within a 60-90 mile radius of the company office - but extensive travel is uncommon and no/very rare overnight travel is the norm.
A company vehicle can be provided or reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
The role will be based out of our Fisher Rd office (west Columbus) then will transition to our new Corporate office in New Albany after the labs are built (@Summer/Fall 2026).
Responsibilities:
Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, slope stability assessments, and risk evaluation on developments.
Training and supervision of lab technicians, maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration, client marketing and proposal preparation.
Training and development of lesser-experienced Engineers (EI/EIT and new PEs).
As a Regional Service Line Manager, this role will serve as the Geotech Department Sr. VP's #2 person in the near future, based on your career trajectory and interests.
You'll be helping to run the Geotech Division while overseeing the OH region (operations, P&L, scheduling, oversight) and serving in both a personal production, and escalation point, capacity.
Tracking project progress in both timeline and budget/profit-loss capacities.
Assisting Marketing with the technical aspects in generating proposals.
Overseeing quality of work submitted (QA/QC).
Ability to work independently on broad projects with oversight/supervision by the Dept. Manager.
Providing direction on a project to project basis - i.e. preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
Preparing geotechnical engineering reports.
Interacting with clients on technical aspects of the projects.
Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
Assisting in planning and the execution of subsurface investigation programs - including the understanding of project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, coordinating underground utility clearance.
