We will be recruiting for two (2) positions with this job posting. Your application will be considered for both positions.

The Electrician performs scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure compliance and functionality of electrical systems.

Key duties include:

Inspecting and repairing electrical systems, fixtures, and lighting (e.g., exit/egress lights)

Maintaining campus lighting and electrical appliances

Participating in renovation projects involving electrical work

Testing and servicing emergency power generators

Working safely from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts

This position is expected to fulfill On-Call and emergency call-back assignments and is considered a mandatory position that must report to work during periods of adverse weather. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Division of Property and Construction supports the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services by managing its statewide facilities portfolio, which includes 18 state-operated campuses totaling over 7.7 million square feet and 148 leased properties covering approximately 1.2 million square feet. The division provides maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds services for the Dorothea Dix Campus and basic maintenance and grounds support for the Governor Morehead School. It also oversees the Department's Capital Improvement Program, managing repair and renovation efforts as well as new capital projects from planning through close-out.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) associated with the position. These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed "eligible" for the position therefore you must provide supporting information, within the body of your application, to demonstrate your possession of each KSA listed.

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

Experienced in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues in secondary electrical systems and equipment.

Working knowledge in low-voltage electronic building control systems and components.

Skilled in reading blueprints and schematics to repair electrical systems and devices.

Experienced with single-phase and three-phase electrical distribution systems.

Management Preferences :

Three (3) years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of electrical systems, equipment, and components within a commercial or industrial setting.

NC Limited Electrical License.

Physical Requirements: HEAVY WORK - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Work may be performed in extreme environmental conditions including adverse weather conditions.
