THE ROLE: The Steel Fabrication Utility Operator will be required to set up and operate the following equipment: Flame Cutter, Shear, Seam Welder, Flash Welder, Plate Rolls, Flange/Angle Rolls, Rim Rolls, Tack Welder, Plasma Burner, 200 Ton Press, 400 Ton Press, All Expanders, All Punch Presses, Etc. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to set up and operate, without assistance, a variety of fabrication machines to produce quality parts to print specifications. Must be positive team contributor who works well with all team members. Participate in training activities, both on and off site Document and maintain required records. Work safely by following all safety policies, procedures and actively participate in all site safety programs. Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the ability to use, read and interpret tape measures, Pi tapes, squares, protractors, calipers, special pipe & layout instruments, and other measurement tools. Must be able to read and interpret shop orders and blueprints. Must be capable of using computer to clock/transfer shop orders. Must have the ability to train lesser qualified employees as required. Must maintain proper care of equipment and a neat and orderly work area. Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed. Must maintain quality and quantity standards,. Be able to follow detailed work orders, modify same through supervision or lead-person as required. DAY IN THE LIFE: In this role, the working environment is both an indoor climate-controlled office and plant manufacturing environment. The physical demands may include but are not limited to occasionally lifting up to 35 pounds, and prolonged exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
