Project Engineer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for our business area of readychain and readycable. Together with customers, you design/ configure ready-to-install energy chain systems that are individually tailored to an application or machine. You will demonstrate your organizational talent in coordinating and prioritizing a number of simultaneous projects in different statuses. Smart and creative process consulting for clients is part of what you do to reduce their costs and/or improve their technology. With communication skills, you lead price negotiations, new product introduction, manufacturing, and customer support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with configuration/ design of readychain and readycable products.

Perform detailed review of customer drawings to identify best manufacturing approach with cost-effective component selection.

Interfacing with the electronics and material suppliers, and internally with sales, as required to solicit competitive material quotes.

Calculate material and labor cost, tooling and test requirements, and pricing in support of product quotation requests.

Develop/ document assembly drawings and manufacturing processes.

Coordinate with multiple teams including: New Product Introduction, First Article builds, and First Article Inspections.

Communicate with sales and/ or customers to ensure their technical needs are being met.

Interact with quality, sales, and/ or customers with product quality issues to find the best solution moving forward.

Provide support to the manufacturing teams by resolving technical issues related to the product, assembly process, and tooling.

Work closely with Process Engineering for continuous improvement of techniques, process documentation, tooling, assembly aids, etc.

Coordinate and execute Engineering Change Orders, Waiver/ Deviations, and Documentation Change Orders with assistance from multiple Operations Teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.

Knowledge of wire harnessing processes, tooling and industry standards.

Strong technical skills: able to present technical concepts; provide customers with hands-on technique using our products.

Self-starter; motivated, team focused and results driven.

Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Familiar with best manufacturing and assembly practices/ techniques.

Familiar with Item Master and Bill of Materials.

Requires demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing engineering discipline, theories, practices and principles.

Requires knowledge necessary to perform the job function such as an understanding of the engineering change order process, product development process, value engineering etc.

Strong Product technology, change management, problem solving, communication skills, customer orientation, personal effectiveness, team skills, and quality.

Knowledge of CAD tools.

Requires additional knowledge of systems and software necessary such as MS Visio, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
