Under managerial supervision, the Plans Examiner Supervisor oversees and coordinates all activities related to the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with applicable building and fire codes and other local, state, and federal requirements. This role is responsible for supervising plans examiners, managing workflow, ensuring high-quality reviews, and facilitating a collaborative environment among staff and external stakeholders.

Manage the operations of the plans review division, including assigning reviews, monitoring timelines, and ensuring consistent code interpretations and high-quality service delivery.

Supervise a team of plans examiners, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Serve as the lead technical expert in interpreting building codes, fire codes, regulations and state amendments, for the building plan review section.

Coordinate interdepartmental review processes (Building, EBA, Special Hazards) to ensure timely and comprehensive plan assessments.

Review complex or high-profile projects, such as hospitals, high-rises, mixed-use developments, and other special occupancies.

Develop, update, and enforce internal policies, procedures, and review checklists to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory standards.

Serve as a liaison to architects, engineers, contractors, and developers, providing clear communication on code requirements, submittal processes, and plan revisions.

Conduct or participate in pre-application and pre-construction meetings for large-scale or complex development projects.

Perform other duties assigned.

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Compliance Spec 3 (RCP012) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license. Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
