POSITION: Crew Leader - Electricians
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor of Electricians
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 261 days annually
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code 18A-4-8a, in accordance with Kanawha County Salary Scale, Pay Grade G3 commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code 18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and KCS's Guide to Performance Evaluation for Service Personnel.
JOB SUMMARY: Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters. Including, but not limited to, work orders as assigned.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An employee working for Kanawha County Schools is expected to comply with all the Kanawha County Schools Policies and Procedures, including maintaining regular attendance and completing all required training. The employee is required to follow all safety rules to maintain a safe workplace.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Job Duties
Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project.
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
Prepares project reports for county.
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
Reviews design for compliance with engineering principles, county standards, and related specifications.
Occasionally, this position will have the oversight responsibility for helpers or other craft persons working under their direction.
Serves as a crew leader of other crafts, maintenance personnel and contractors on projects.
Receives permission from building principal/supervisor to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Attends in-services and workshops as directed.
Follows all safety rules and regulations and uses prescribed personal protective equipment.
Other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code 18A-2-5; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code 18-5-15c; Meet the definition of Qualifications in WV Code 18A-4-8b;
Demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code 18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test) as required.
Be a licensed Journeyman Electrician with five years' experience in the craft.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stoop, reach, lift, pull, and push. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 50 pounds such as to lift tools, equipment and parts.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The work setting is indoors as well as outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud (60 -90 dB).
