The Southern Recreation and Leisure Services Division is seeking a Recreation Community Supervisor . The selected candidate will oversee a high-performing unit responsible for the management and execution of childcare programs, summer camps, and large-scale community events. Please Note: The salary range listed above shows the earning potential for this position. The budgeted salary range for this position is $73,523 - $103,068. Salary is commensurate with experience. Examples of Important Duties- Manage, plan, organize, implement, market, and evaluate recreation programs and events (i.e. large festivals, town celebrations, playgrounds) in schools, parks, community centers, and other facilities in the area.
- Manage services and programs within a Unit. Establish, recommends and monitor operating procedures (i.e. hours, building maintenance and repairs) for the Unit.
- Supervise full-time (career), intermittent, volunteer and contracted employees. Recruits, interviews, selects and trains staff.
- Conducts performance appraisals. Counsels and disciplines employees.
- Community Relations. Meet with citizens, community groups, park and recreation councils, Board of Education staff, professional organizations, and local government representatives to identify needs, plan programs, solve problems, and answer questions.
- Monitor fiscal requirements. Controls expenditures within approved budget for the facilities in Unit. Initiates purchase requisitions and check requests.
- Plans, schedules, and assigns work. Approve timecards and leave request for career and seasonal staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management, Sports Management, Leisure Studies, Physical Education or any related field.
- Four (4) years of recreational or related experience, including three years performing supervisory or program management duties.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total eight (8) years.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's licenses must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
