Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure safe operation.

  • Perform engine overhauls, component replacements, and welding or fabrication when necessary.

  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately and efficiently.

  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field repairs when needed.

  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other mechanics to prioritize and complete repairs quickly.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and adhere to health and safety protocols.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment.

  • Trade qualification in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance (e.g., Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and construction machinery.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and mechanical tools.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Physical ability to work in demanding environments and lift heavy components.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call, as needed.
