Mobile Equipment Operator 1-Heavy

OUR MISSION:

The Fifth Louisiana Levee District primary purpose of maintaining the levees along the Mississippi River. The district includes portions of East Carroll, Madison, Tensas and Concordia Parishes. The total length of the levee system is 355 miles, 213.8 miles of mainline levee and 93.1 miles of Red River backwater levee, 14.9 miles of back line levees and approximately 6.3 miles of spur levees. The height and width of the Mississippi River Levee and Berm system within the Fifth Louisiana Levee District makes it the largest Levee District in the state in total number of surface acres to maintain.

The Mobile Equipment Operator 1- Heavy is a valuable part of the Fifth Louisiana Levee District because of their function of work to operate heavy mobile equipment to accomplish transportation, maintenance, or construction tasks. This incumbent will work under the supervision of Levee Foreman B, Levee Superintendent, or Levee Board Operations Superintendent.

Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Job Duties:

This position main responsibilities are to make minor repairs, maintenance to equipment and operating one or more of the following equipment: bulldozers, front end loaders, backhoes, road graders, and tractors with bushhogs along the slopes of the levee.
