Position / Title: Carpenter
Position Summary:
Performs specialized carpentry duties and general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned)
- Perform Preventive Maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
- Uses plaster or compound to patch holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
- Patch and paint drywall in high profile areas.
- Seal fire and smoke penetrations to meet AF and Life Safety Standards.
- Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Paints structures and equipment.
- Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
- Replaces damaged ceiling panels, floor tiles, carpet and ceramic tile.
- Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken windowpanes.
- Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, counters, benches, partitions, doors and award notification.
- Plans the layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
- Performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and (3) years related experience in a
health care environment, and any federal or state required licenses and certifications.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-
on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the
organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- None specifically required, refer to years of experience in the job classification and responsibilities.

- Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours per day.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Must be able to travel to job locations by automobile and/or commercial airline.
