ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be challenged to do:
GFT’s Fort Lauderdale office is looking for a Structural Engineer II with a minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge design to join our established Bridge Design Team. Candidates will be responsible for new bridge design, evaluation and rehabilitation of existing bridge structure, plans preparation, as well as bridge load rating analysis. Candidates will also be responsible for some project management, monitoring and adhering to budgets and schedules, performing QC reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and working with other staff in completing projects

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Bridge Design, contract plans preparation and specifications requiring quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets and schedules.
- Developing design options.
- Maintaining organized design calculation and project data.
- Performing load ratings analysis.
- Calculations of quantities and development of cost estimates.
- The position may require the engineer to take part in bridge inspection assignments as an Inspection Team Member and prepare bridge inspection reports documenting inspection findings.
- Work with contractor or other consultant to develop demolition and erection plans, temporary sheeting, cofferdam designs, and temporary supports.
- Review shop drawing submittals. Organize submittals and address questions from contractor during the construction phases of structures.
- Maintain professional, technical, and supervisory skills by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering.
- Over 5 years of experience in structural design, rehabilitation, and evaluation of bridges, load rating analysis, preparation of construction documents, specifications, and estimates.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
What we prefer you bring:
- Master degree in civil/structural engineering.
- Florida PE, EIT or EI license; or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu.
- Experience in new bridge design, load rating analysis, bridge rehabilitation, and/or inspection of bridges.
- Experience with common commercial structural software like Leap Bridge, CSi Bridge, STAAD Pro, AASHTOWARE BrR, Mathcad.
Compensation:
The Salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
