Position Description
TITLE: HVAC Service Technician
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide a variety of skilled services pertaining to heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: (essential functions)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of Federal, State, County and City statutes, ordinances and codes.
Knowledge of the principals of HVAC practices, methods and techniques.
Knowledge of the basic principals of gas, electrical and plumbing methods.
Skills in reading and interpreting blue prints, building, plumbing, electrical, and fire codes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, reach, lift (exerting force up to 50 pounds) carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Subject to working in extreme temperatures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED, completion of a formal HVAC apprenticeship program including recovery and replacement of Freon. Minimum two years of related experience or employment relating to the HVAC field.

- Respond to heating, ventilation and air conditioning work orders.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment as well as freezers. Recover or replace Freon.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components as it pertains to HVAC equipment as well as freezers.
- Clean coils, drain pans, condensate lines.
- Maintain service truck, order parts, supplies and materials as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
