Job Description:

BCC Engineering, a Parsons Company is looking for an amazingly talented Drainage Project Engineer to join our team! In this role you will lead complex drainage design efforts for FDOT, county, and city projects, serve as Engineer-of-Record, mentor junior staff, manage project delivery and coordination, support permitting and client engagement, and contribute to business development and team growth.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provides design and managerial direction on drainage design, detailing and/or review during the planning, design and construction phases of FDOT, county, and city projects.
  • Mentors other engineers and provides design and analysis solutions for specialized drainage problems.
  • Perform spread calculations, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, drainage tabulation analysis, drainage map delineation, and Bridge Scour Analysis to create drainage plans for FDOT and other client, with a particular emphasis on complex or speci
  • Use Groundwater modeling to create cohesive drainage designs; work on limited highway interchange drainage designs
  • Work with internal and external sources on Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP) of projects
  • Assume lead role in complex drainage design efforts; assign, track, and review tasks of technicians, designers, and engineers, ensuring adherence to project schedules; QC final work product
  • Oversee project design from conception to completion in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule; coordinate with other disciplines throughout the duration of the project
  • Provide constructability reviews; perform independent peer reviews on project submittals
  • Review contract plans and calculations from other engineering teams and outside entities to verify completion and compliance with governing drainage design codes and contract plans and specifications
  • Serves as the Engineer-of-Record for major, minor, and miscellaneous drainage designs
  • Communicate high-level concepts effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies
  • Build client relationships, help identify business opportunities, meet with clients and have client accountability
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors as necessary
  • Utilize Client Relationship Manager (CRM) to accurately report and track ongoing business opportunities and pursuits
  • Take an active role in proposal activities, including write-ups and preliminary and final reviews
  • Other marketing duties include providing timely resume updates, project write-ups, proposal support, and participating in marketing initiatives as required
  • Ensure timely completion of time sheets, expense reports, and labor hours management
  • Facilitate career development of junior engineers and designers through active mentorship, providing formal and informal feedback and seizing opportunities to develop and teach new skills
  • Identify skills and knowledge gaps within the department, seek opportunities to provide internal trainings, and identify worthwhile external training content

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in programs such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, ICPR, ASAD, HEC-RAS, Culvert Master, and Culvert Service Life Estimator
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • In-depth knowledge of FDOT Drainage Manual, SFWMD guidelines, Drainage Design Guide, ERP Applicant's Handbook Vol 2, FDOT D6 ETRM, ICPR-AM, Drainage Connection Permit, FDOT Drainage Standards, FHWA Hydraulic Engineering Circulars, and the Florida Design Manual
  • Advanced understanding of water quality and quantity criteria and familiarity with FDOT standard drainage details
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work and ensuring client satisfaction
  • Capability to align individual project goals with broader departmental objectives
  • Experience in supervising and guiding teams while promoting autonomy and accountability
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a collaborative, innovative work environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Years of Experience: 10+ years
  • Must possess excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Florida PE License or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Demonstrated success in client service and project delivery
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FDOT processes, procedures and requirements
  • Participation in relevant Engineering Societies
