Chief Building Engineer**
**Job Description**
The Building Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment associated with building infrastructures, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, Energy Management (EMS), Life Safety, and structural elements. The role involves completing work orders and repairs across all properties, maintaining the properties and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, performing repairs as required, and assisting in completing tenant service requests. The position also encompasses customer service requirements.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform detailed, scheduled maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, steam systems, and specialty items.
+ Conduct preventive maintenance work and document equipment performance data.
+ Repair, troubleshoot, and assist with the installation of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, and cooling systems.
+ Ensure completion of maintenance and repair jobs according to established standards.
+ Patrol, inspect, log, and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems.
+ Assist with fire/life/safety and security programs.
+ Perform special projects as assigned.
+ Handle sensitive and confidential information independently and within a team.
+ Coordinate, plan, and schedule maintenance and operation of building systems and equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and repair building systems promptly, maintaining accurate records.
+ Communicate and foster teamwork to manage agreements successfully and exceed customer expectations.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to read and interpret system plans and schematics.
+ Proficiency in troubleshooting skills to repair and maintain systems.
+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
+ Thorough knowledge of customer service and tenant relations principles.
+ Proficient in standard software including Microsoft Office and applicable maintenance programs.
+ Dependable, responsible, honest, and hardworking.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate using a hand-held radio.
+ Ability to respond to supervisor requests in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, preventive maintenance, repair, carpentry, mechanical, and painting.
+ Ability to deal with people in a manner showing sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
+ Subject to call 24/7, carrying a company-issued cell phone and/or other electronic communication devices.
