New hire experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
New hire education:
1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

OVERVIEW
To perform all aspects of painting and other finishes on district facilities and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School education or equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and safe driving record
- Five years experience in the painting trade including cabinet finishing and striping
- Good safety and work habits; good attendance record
- Ability to safely rig ladders and equipment used in trade; to use spray and power roller equipment and to operate spray booth; to care for equipment and tools
- Ability to build, set-up and work from scaffolding
- Ability to work from various heights including ladders, extension ladders, and boom trucks
- Ability to prepare various surfaces prior to painting; to mix all types of paints
- Ability to coordinate workload using established priorities; to work alone and unsupervised; to supervise summer help
- Ability to lift and /or to move up to 100 pounds; to work outdoors and in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate various types of striping equipment
- Layout work prior to painting parking lots, playgrounds and gym floors
- Sweep and/or scrape parking lots, game lines and curbs prior to re-striping
- Perform all phases of cabinet finishing
- Perform brush, roller and spray painting on district facilities and equipment
- Prepare surfaces to be painted, stained or otherwise finished
- Prepare and mix all types of paint and lacquer for application
- Perform sandblasting and waterblasting as required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Work outdoors in 100 degree+ heat, work nights and weekends as needed
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
