Position Summary

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training and development programs for front-line staff across the organization. This role applies adult learning principles to create engaging, effective learning experiences delivered through multiple modalities, including instructor-led training, self-directed learning, and online platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about workforce development, grounded in evidence-based instructional design, and adept at partnering with operational leaders to address business needs through learning.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and develop engaging learning programs including e-learning, classroom, workshops, and virtual sessions.
  • Conduct organizational assessments to identify skill gaps and training needs.
  • Implement evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements based on feedback.
  • Partner with department and clinic leaders to design training content and solutions.
  • Manage the learning management system (LMS), including course creation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.
  • Support onboarding, compliance training, role-specific training, and development pathways for high-volume frontline roles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Experience Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development
  • Required: Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Preferred: Ophthalmology experience
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing learning tools for operational teams
  • Have ability to analyze data, understand trends, and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional collaborating and coaching skills (both in-person, virtual and e-learning).
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business, Communications, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Relevant Training Certifications preferred (i.e. SHRM, CPTD, PMP).
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
