The Role

Working in a team-oriented workplace, Electrical Engineer V will effectively apply electronic skills to perform activities concerned with analysis, design, testing/troubleshooting and manufacturing of products/systems including the application of these products/systems to commercial, industrial and scientific uses. As required by the business, works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of products/systems or services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Address complex, high impact design challenges involving future concepts, technologies and products, apply independent judgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve innovative results.
  • Serve as work package leader, managing scope, schedule, resources and deliverables for key electrical development initiatives within cross-functional product teams
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to management and external stakeholders; operate with minimal supervision while providing direction to others as determined by organizational needs
  • Act as the electronics system architect, defining and guiding the overall electrical strategy, including component selection, system partitioning, and integration across hardware, firmware and mechanical interfaces
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the customers requirements, expectations, and application environment as it relates to product/system performance is required. Strategically manage new and/or existing Customer requirements/expectations into product variations/enhancements or new product ideas.
  • Establish future relationships with other Markem-Imaje functional departments such as Reliability, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Customer Service, Tech Service, Repair Centers, Business Centers, Product Marketing, etc., as required to meet the strategic goals for the business.
  • Provide leadership and direction for engineering of systems, module architecture, interfacing systems, components, devices, and processes to solve complex problems.
  • Develop strategic and implementation plans with respect to system architecture and design including software, hardware, communications and interface requirements.
  • Research, plan and execute new electrical design approaches and parameters through the assimilation and application of new technology. Provide guidance, leadership and instruction to the R&D community in this capacity.
  • Develop and lead key account relationships involving requirements definitions, special applications/designs, and validation through field testing.
  • Assists Marketing technically with VOC research.
  • Coordinate, leads and/or participates in design review meetings and associated activities.
  • Actively participate in the annual business planning sessions related to Electrical R&D.
  • May provide daily supervision and direction to assigned staff.
  • Liaise with the HR team, may be responsible for the recruitment and development of competent engineering staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters Degree with minimum 13 years of experience in a related field or a Bachelors Degree with 15 years of experience.
  • 15+ years of experience developing PCBAs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and enter schematics (Altium a plus) and a superior knowledge and experience of digital, embedded CPU and analog circuits.
  • FPGA and/or C programming skills a plus.
  • The candidate should be able to develop their assignments will minimal direction as well as functional as part of a cross functional and international product development team.
  • Mentoring and leadership of less experienced personnel in an agile environment.
  • Expertise in more than one of the following is required: system design, analog and digital circuit design, solid state power electronics and power conversion, microprocessor and digital signal processor, software, local area networks, wireless communications, data logging, and electromechanical devices.
  • Complex analog and digital design capability that includes expertise with low and high density integrated circuits, microprocessors/microcontrollers, motor controllers, display drivers, communication drivers, input/output devices, power supply circuits/conditioning, wiring diagrams and cable management. Experience with architectural design/manufacturing that includes VHDL, FPGA, CPLD, BGA and SMT.
  • Expertise with PCB design, testing, analysis and validation required.
  • Expertise with EMI/EMC design, testing techniques and Agency certification practices required.
  • Programming knowledge of C++ is preferred.
  • Proven track record of success for designing, implementing and manufacturing reliable product designs.
  • Expert use of test equipment/apparatus, computer-assisted engineering and design software, circuit board processes, etc.
  • Expertise with the use of ECAD for schematic capture and circuit simulation, oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic/spectrum analyzers, signal generators and data logging equipment.
  • Expertise utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of common software programs, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, Customer, interpersonal communication and mentoring skills a must.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in Engineering Excellence: FMEA, DFT, DFM, Root Cause Analysis, Design of Experiments, etc.
  • Proven experience working in cross-functional and cross-border environments.
  • Ability to define a path to solve complex problems, share that vision, and support the team for execution.

Work Arrangement : Onsite

Pay Range: - annually

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
