Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will independently perform activities associated with the Standard Design Process (SDP), supporting capital modification implementation and turnover, including outage or emergent modifications. This role involves managing engineering vendor activities, developing specifications, statements of work, bid evaluations, owner acceptance reviews, and coordinating engineering vendors onsite. Knowledge of regulatory, industry standards and codes, and the 10 CFR 50.59 process is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly complex engineering tasks requiring knowledge and experience with nuclear industry standards and regulations.
  • Lead discussions in a group setting to resolve problems or coordinate design production.
  • Apply nuclear industry standards and regulations to solve new problems and address situations.
  • Serve as a technical liaison within the nuclear business unit.
  • Prepare and review Engineering Change packages per the Standard Design Process.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with 10 CFR 50.59 nuclear standard.
  • Standard Design Process experience.
  • Knowledge in drafting, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, ISI/IST.
  • Familiarity with Section II, VIII and XI, ADL Pipe (or similar), and pipe stress analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nuclear experience.
  • Nuclear accredited qualifications preferred, such as preparing an Engineering Change, Verification, Calculations, Rigging and 50.59 qualifications.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
