At North Sky Communications as a Flagger / Laborer on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll direct the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through our job sites and participate in other phases of underground construction, including loading, delivery, digging, and equipment operation.

What you’ll do as a Flagger / Laborer

  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments, setting-up worksite traffic and safety controls, and properly securing the work area
  • Following traffic control plans and maintaining the control of traffic safety within the work zone according to state and local requirements
  • When required, and if appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments
  • Occasionally perform other construction tasks including loading, delivery, digging, and operating equipment
  • Occasionally install underground telecommunications cabling
  • Occasionally assist with placement of conduit and/or cables
  • Clearly communicate with all team members
  • Complete daily production reports
  • Help with site restoration efforts
  • Perform work in all weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a Valid Driver's License Required
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT medical certificate physical, driving record and background check
  • Previous flagging experience in Oregon state
  • Willingness to work shifts as assigned, including weekends and daily overtime when necessary
  • Be willing and available to travel and work out of town when neccessary
  • Possess current Oregon's Flagger Certification preferred
  • Ability to stand and safely manage traffic and pedestrian activity within the workzone with hand paddles and use of handheld radios during the duration of the shift
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Previous experience safely operating various hand tools and utility trucks, is preferred

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely : work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
  • Occasionally : use ladder, keyboard and mouse, operate vehicle and construction equipment

Salary Range $22 - $28+ per hour (DOE)
