Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Design Engineer to join a high-impact team supporting a major tactical communications program. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and planning secure network systems that enable seamless communication across geographically dispersed and mission-critical environments.

You will work with internal teams and external partners to deliver technical solutions and system enhancements, offering expert-level guidance on hardware and software configurations. The role demands an independent thinker with a broad understanding of networking principles, a proactive mindset, and a drive to solve complex technical challenges that directly affect real-world operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Design and plan robust, secure network systems.

Provide specifications and schematics for network architecture.

Deliver detailed hardware/software selection guidance and implementation techniques.

Troubleshoot complex network issues and coordinate third-party maintenance.

Maintain technical expertise across routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, and related systems.

Support ongoing upgrades, capacity planning, and performance improvements.

Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Drive implementation of innovative, efficient solutions based on business needs.

Analyze and address current and future network capacity requirements.

Required Experience/Skills

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics OR 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.

U.S. citizenship required.

Active Secret clearance.

Strong understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and protocols.

Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical projects.

Subject matter expertise in at least one relevant discipline with working knowledge across related areas.

Strong judgment and problem-solving skills in complex, high-impact situations.

Proficiency with interconnection and interfacing hardware/software.

Nice-to-Haves

Creative, collaborative mindset with the ability to multi-task.

Previous experience in secure government or military communications programs.

Experience designing tactical or mission-critical networks.

Familiarity with satellite communication infrastructures.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field.

Master's degree acceptable with reduced experience requirement.

Pay Summary

Pay rate up to $57/hr W2, depending on experience
