Mapping Drafter

Our client is seeking a skilled and meticulous Mapping Drafter to join their Engineering or Operations team. The Mapping Drafter will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining accurate geographic infrastructure maps.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, update, review and ensure integrity, quality and accuracy of utilities information data entry into AutoCAD maps, drawings, and their associated databases.
  • Prepare drawings, construction standards, elevation and section views required prior to, during, or at the completion of work order or construction projects utilizing the AutoCAD AEC Collection.
  • Using electronic (AutoCAD) methods, prepare and update drawings, maps and records from various sources throughout the utility for substation, distribution, and transmission systems.
  • Assist with obtaining field information pertinent to maintaining system drawings and engineering records (i.e. locations of underground facilities, obstructions to construction, elevations of ground, GPS data, construction standards, abnormal conditions, etc.).
  • Make physical inventories, take photos and compile map data from actual field surveys of existing equipment (i.e., location, type, quantity, material, etc.) for department records.
  • Maintain all maps, drawings and engineering record files.
  • Produce easement drawings and layout existing easements from many sources using metes and bounds description.
  • Provide facility locations and other pertinent construction information as requested by way of email, company radio or telephone communication.
  • Draw forms, signs, illustrations and presentation documentation as necessary.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Associates or Technical degree in Computer- Aided Drafting and Design or equivalent education is required.
  • Two years of work experience in a Specialized or Technical field. The following experience may be but not limited to some of the following skills: Certified Auto CAD, Field Equipment, and Mapping.
  • The incumbent to this position must have the ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to multitask at all levels to get required results.
  • Must have skills in the area of general office practices and have acquired three (3) or more technical or computer training classes associated with the work performed.
  • Must acquire additional technical training and computer classes if requested to maintain or progress from this position.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard regarding safety and to support workplace safety.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
